Girls Football week is coming
In April, over 52,000 girls took part in FA Girls’ Football Week, and we are committed to building on this terrific achievement in October. During the week of 10th -16th October 2016, the FA and its partners will again be focussed on impacting the lives of as many young girls as possible, as we embark on another FA Girls’ Football Week! We aim to engage a further 22,000 participants with a focus on Further and Higher Education.
What is FA Girls’ Football Week?
During FA Girls’ Football Week the whole country gears up to encourage female-specific football sessions in local clubs, schools and community groups.
The week helps us to measure our progress towards our ultimate goal, which is to double female participation by 2020.
To allow us to measure our progress, we ask everyone taking part to log their activity.
So, what do we need from you?
At the moment all you need to do is Save the Date in your diaries and think about how you can contribute to getting as many girls involved as possible!
As with any national campaign, whether we achieve our goals is down to the incredible work of those in local clubs, schools and community groups.
We will be in touch as soon as you are able to log your activity online to tell you where to go to do this. There are bound to be a lot of girls-only football sessions taking place up and down the country, and we believe if all this was logged we will see an increase in the number of girls taking part!
We also need your help to encourage as many girls to get involved in football during the week, by getting the word out in the local community.
What can we do to help?
Once you log your session, you will gain access to resources to promote your sessions along with session plans and ideas to get you started.
Also, FA Girls’ Football Week is the time to show off all the great work you do in your club. If you use the hashtag #WeCanPlay, The FA and your County FA will be keen to share your content.
Ultimately, our aim is for every parent, every teacher, and every girl in England to get involved in football and we want to do it this October.
Save the date - 10th -16th October 2016! #WeCanPlay
Thanks for your support,
